Mantua Township Fire and EMS Museum

Did you know you there is a museum where you could learn about the history of the fantastic fire companies in Mantua?

Mantua Township has an awesome museum filled with fire and EMS memorabilia such as uniforms, newspaper articles, photographs, banners, and other artifacts from the Barnsboro, Mantua, Sewell, and Centre City Volunteer Fire Companies as well as the Mantua Township Community Ambulance.

Do you love fire engines or know someone who does?

There are amazing fire trucks for everyone to enjoy, including a 1915 Mack pumper, 1929 Ford Model AA pumper, and 1945 Mack pumper.

Were you aware that insurance companies would use fire marks on buildings to designate which company insured it?

In the past, if you did not have the “correct” fire mark on your house, the fire company would let it burn down! Come and learn more about this topic and see some of the fire marks for yourself.

Did you know people used bucket brigades to fight fires?

Fire buckets, with round bottoms, would hang near houses for the community to use to battle fires. Visit the magnificent museum to discover why the bucket had a round bottom in addition to other intriguing facts about the history of the fire companies.
